here I have my gorgeous 41-45 year old Gibson les paul custom lovingly maintained in exceptional condition,

appears to be all original apart from the Schaller tuners which were fitted sometime in the 80s.

I have owned this guitar sinse nov 2004

checking out the serial number 651781 ,I have a number which falls into the annoyingly obscure category 1970-1972 or 1974-1975.usually these issues are easily resolved by checking the pots numbers but the crucial 4th & 5th digit numbers are covered by soldered joints .the bridge is a Gibson patent number 2,740,313 with the retainer wire.these were discontinued in 1971 which may be a pointer towards the correct year of this guitar

cosmetically this is one of the cleanest vintage customs I have seen that is why i purchased it from a gibson guitar dealer after many months of searching,these early 70s models are becoming increasingly difficult/harder & rarer to find especially in this almost unblemished original condition.

the top has barely a mark on her,

the underside has some buckle rash/worming but there is nothing showing through the finish,

the sides are also relatively free from dings with only the lower side showing 4/5 dings

the neck is in beautiful condition & the tip of the headstock is only showing a couple of small chips

she is stamped with a 2 on the back of the headstock above the serial # which indicates that she left the Gibson factory with a imperfection to the finish which now appears irrelevant with the passing of 41-45 years

has a medium profile neck with medium sized frets showing minimal wear,set up with 10s with a ultra low action & plays like a dream,this is a exceptional guitar & guaranteed to delight
